The Human computer Ms.Shakuntala Devi visits our school

Veteran Mathematics wizard Ms.Shakuntala Devi visited our school on 16th June 2009 and enthralled the students and staff alike with her gift for manipulating numbers. The ease with which Ms.Shakuntala Devi could calculate the cube roots of large numbers and her seemingly effortless ability to tell the day of the week for any given date had everyone's mouths gaping with awe. Her quickwit, humours and presence of mind will leave an indelible impact on those who were fortunate to be present today.

Wing Commander (retd) Rakesh Sharma in his address to the students shared with our children, the trials, the tribulations and the triumph of being the first Indian to see India from space and also shared with us the experience of seeing the stars without the curtain of atmosphere and also the emotions he went through when he saw our little blue and white planet floating in the bottomless blackness of space!
